‘GOT ME STARTED’ INSIGHTS - Troye Sivan, MV
Working behind the scenes on a large production set offers a different kind of learning, one that doesn’t come from tutorials or theory, but from being present, observing, and assisting.
On a big set, it becomes clear that if you know exactly what you want, execution becomes simpler. The crew wasn’t overwhelmed by the scale of the production because everyone shared the same objective. Each role was clearly defined, and every decision served the final shot.
Efficiency in production isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing what’s necessary. The team could have set up ten 18K lights if they wanted to, but they didn’t. They knew the shot they needed, understood what would look right on camera, and trusted that what they had was already sufficient and beautiful. That level of restraint comes from experience and clarity.
There’s also value in choosing to stay behind the scenes. Being part of the crew meant learning something new every day, about lighting, pacing, communication, and decision-making on set. In Thailand’s growing production industry, these moments of observation are just as important as being in the spotlight.
To end off, here is a beautiful quote form our videographer: “You know, it's always a great experience to work behind the scene shoot for the big set. I'm not like too pressured to myself and I'm fine to be a behind the scene crew for now because I get to learn every day.”
