Digital artist speaks about AI

How AI changing the creative industry and what might the future hold?

“It’s kind of sad to say this because it’s not an optimistic ‘Hey, join AI because it’s amazing!’ It’s more like—no, this thing is going to utterly wipe us out.”

Cyrus James Khan is a self-taught digital artist whose journey spans from 3D generalist to game developer. With an impressive background in VFX, 3D modeling, animation, rendering, and logic systems, he welcomes us into his perspectives through his experiences in life.

In this episode, Cyrus walks us through his childhood, his evolving artistry, and his unfiltered thoughts on AI’s growing influence in the creative industry. He opens up into the advantages but more imperatively, the disadvantages of the open system.

“Obviously there's gonna be a lot of downsides with AI. Like, it's affecting everyone currently.”

It's affected my work so much that I had to personally, you know, shift gears and really put a lot of my time into learning these new technologies so that I can evolve with it.

A strong point Cyrus made as he explained what he had to do to adapt. Starting his passion from stop-motion into VFX and now into game development, he highlights how the core principles of digital art remain the same - the real challenge is how you master and utilize the current technologies to expand your medium of art.

His adaptability and curiosity have not only shaped his craft but also captured the attention of businesses eager for innovation in an increasingly AI-driven world.

So, how does being at the forefront of digital art and technology shape Cyrus’s vision of the future?
